June 1, 2011, Vancouver, BC – Abacus Private Equity is pleased to announce the formal creation of its Structured Financial Solutions group.
About Abacus’ Structured Financial Solutions group:
The Structured Financial Solutions group will expand Abacus’ existing capabilities to include significant in-house cross-border expertise. This will allow Abacus to enhance the value proposition it currently provides to Canadian companies.
The group will be tasked with the creation of unique financial products that will assist Canadian based firms to generate domestic efficiencies, and help foreign investors optimize their in-bound investments. The creation of this group will coincide with the expansion of Abacus’ operations beyond Canadian borders.
Jas Hayre joins Abacus as Managing Director of the Structured Financial Solutions Group, and brings with him his team from C2 Global Solutions, Inc. which includes Senior Managers Sandy Chan and Adam Ostrow. “We are very pleased to be joining the Abacus platform. Abacus has long maintained a reputation for being at the forefront of structured transactions in Canada, and their team of internal and external professionals is second to none. We look forward to bringing our complementary skill set to Abacus and to assisting in the growth of the franchise” said Mr. Hayre.
Each member of the Abacus Structured Financial Solutions group has numerous years of relevant cross-border merger and acquisition experience, working with major international accounting and/or law firms in senior tax planning roles.
Jas Hayre is a chartered accountant with over 20 years of experience in public and private practice advising clients on cross-border tax issues. Prior to joining Abacus Jas founded an international tax consulting firm, C2 Global Solutions. Jas was also a tax partner and leader of the international tax services group at Ernst & Young, LLP in Vancouver for over 10 years.
Adam Ostrow brings with him 17 years of international tax experience, including Senior Manager roles with PWC LLP, KPMG LLP and Baker Tilly in Minnesota. His experience also includes having worked with Arthur Andersen in New York City and Mayer Brown LLP in Washington, D.C.
Sandy Chan is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant (Texas) with more than seven years of corporate income tax experience, specializing in the area of international tax. Sandy was previously a manager in the international tax services group of Ernst & Young, LLP.
